Privacy Policy

SCMulator ("we", "us") provides supply chain calculators and reference tools at scmulator.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, we don't sell your data, and most tools work without an account at all.

Account information. If you create an account, we store your name, email address, and a hashed password (or your Google profile details if you sign in with Google). We never store passwords in plain text.

Saved content. If you're signed in, we store the calculations and scenarios you choose to save, so you can access them later.

Contact messages. When you use our contact form, we store the name, email, and message you submit so we can respond.

Usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand which tools are used and how the site performs (pages visited, features used, approximate location from IP, browser and device type). Session recording is turned off — we do not capture what you type into calculators.

Calculator inputs. The numbers you enter into calculators are processed in your browser and are not stored on our servers unless you explicitly save a calculation to your account.

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in to your account. It is set only when you log in, and clearing it (or signing out) ends your session. We don't use advertising cookies.

Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we store only your subscription status and Stripe's reference identifiers. Stripe's handling of your data is covered by its own privacy policy.

When you use AI-powered explanations (for example in the acronym tool), the term and industry context you request are sent to Anthropic's API to generate the explanation. We don't send your account details with those requests.

We send transactional email only — password resets and replies to your enquiries — delivered via Resend. We don't send marketing email or share your address with third parties for their marketing.

We use the information above to operate and improve the service: authenticating you, saving your work, responding to messages, processing subscriptions, keeping the site reliable, and understanding which tools are worth improving. We do not sell personal data.

Account data and saved calculations are kept while your account is active. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Analytics data is retained per PostHog's standard retention settings.

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its data. To do any of these, reach out via the contact page from the email address linked to your account, and we'll act on the request promptly.

We rely on a small set of processors to run SCMulator: Stripe (payments), PostHog (analytics), Anthropic (AI explanations), Resend (transactional email), MongoDB Atlas (database hosting), and our hosting providers. Each processes data only to provide its service to us.

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
